Visual Design Principles

Visual design principles can be used to make web sites more readable and attractive.

Four visual design principles:
  1. Alignment
  2. Proximity
  3. Repetition
  4. Contrast
Short definitions of each of these design principles:

Design Principle
Definition
Alignment Items on the page are line up with each other
Proximity Items that are physically close to each other have an inferred relationship
Repitition Certain elements throughout a project are repeated
Contrast Differences in text size, font, color, graphics, and texture that create focal points where appropriate
